Queensland Symphony Orchestra always delivers quality, and the 2020 line up of classical concerts is no different. As this year marks Beethoven’s 250th birthday, QSO have chosen the Triple Concerto for their season opening this year: Concerto in three concertos in one night! Three solo instruments – piano, cello and violin – make this concerto music to my ears (pun intended!).
Did Schostakovich intend his Symphony No.5 to be a criticism of Stalimist Russia? You be the judge – but anything controversial provides fruitful ground for an intellectual debate. So here goes:
Beethoven’s Triple Concerto + Schostakovich’s Symphony No.5, performed by Queensland Symphony Orchestra, on Saturday 8th February 2020. Get your tickets here.
